   UPPER ROOM/KITCHEN PROJECT

Refurbishing the Upper Room—We are blessed here at New Jerusalem

to have the Upper Room as our fellowship hall space.  It is sort of the family rec room where we can gather for times of celebration or mourning or games or business or just a cup of coffee.

After over 40 years of faithful service, the "old girl" could use a facelift!  The carpet is worn.  The wiring needs updating.  The kitchen could

use some upgrades.  So, plans are in the beginning stages for

how the room will be refurbished.

Everyone is invited to get involved and

give ideas and input.  We are at the planning stage of this project, which is most important!

If you would like to offer suggestions,

please contact Jere Reiss at 610-967-2499.

As plans fall into place, we will have a congregational meeting

to approve the costs involved.

GIVING UP SOMETHING—GIVING TO SOMETHING

From the time we were in Sunday School, many of us have participated in the ritual of "giving up something for Lent."

Be it meat, chocolate, cigarettes—we have been taught this

discipline of denying ourselves something for these 40 days

as a way of experiencing what it means to be obedient and

know that our Lord can help us through times of temptation.

But Lent is also about "giving to," learning that being obedient

to our Lord is about giving away the stuff we have,

the time we have, and the talent we have.

So this Lent, here are some ways to practice

"giving up and giving to":

+  If you are giving up some item, consider donating what you would spend on that item to World Hunger or Relief for Haiti.

+  If you are giving up watching TV, going on the computer, etc., consider spending that time packing bags at the Food Bank

on Monday, February 22nd or Monday, March 15th or 22nd

at 6:00 p.m. here at New Jerusalem or taking the time to call

a homebound member (check with the church office for a list

of our homebound members).

+  If you are giving up a bad habit (nail biting, cursing, etc.) replace it with a good habit like taking a walk, prayng, visiting a friend.

MONDAYS IN LENT

Lent is a time to take time to study
and learn from the Bible.

You are welcome to join in a study of the story of the
Prodigal Son.  This story is our story and we will discuss
how it is that we can move from fear to love in our
relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Please invite a friend and join us
for this Bible study
Monday, March 1, 8, 15, and 22
at 1:00 p.m. or at 7:30 p.m.

If you'd like more information, please contact Pastor Tricia

2010 WORSHIP SPONSORSHIP CHARTS

This is a nice way to honor someone on their birthday,

wedding, wedding anniversary, a special occasion,

or remember a loved one.

Please sign the flower chart which is located

on the bulletin board in the Narthex.

Flowers will be $50.00

Due to the rise in the cost of flowers, we will be looking

for 2 sponsors each week to share the cost of the flowers.

Bulletins will be $15.00

Because we print our own bulletin covers,

the cost of our bulletins remains the same as last year.

Candles will be $2.00

The candles for worship can be sponsored to honor someone,

remember a loved one, or to celebrate a special occasion.

If you wish to sponsor Communion Bread,

please have it at the church by 8:30 a.m.

on the Sunday you are sponsoring it so

the Altar Guild can prepare it for worship.

Please use the chart on the bulletin board in

the back of the church to sign up for the above sponsorships.
